Masking Tips

If you have a large window to mask off, here are a couple of ways to get it done efficiently.

1. 3M makes a masking film in several lengths. You simply load it in your handmasker (make sure that you have a masking film blade attached) and run the film across the top of the window and tear appropriatly. Then pull the film down the face of the window and tape the edges. The film has static in it and sticks to the glass well. I really like this product. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Marine/Home/Products/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20S4K7_nid=GSGJXHDJFPbe94R0HRQVZXgl

2. If the cost of the 3M Film is out of the budget then get a roll of two inch masking tape out and adhere only the outer edge of the tape around the perimeter of the window. Now cut a piece of poly sheeting with at least a foot or two of play. This always works better with two people but it certaily can be done by yourself. Simply start tucking the plastic under the exposed masking tape, work your way from top to bottom. If the plastic is too long then fold it under, then tuck it in. This way of covering windows is efficient and inexpensive.

3M makes a quality hand masker that lasts a long time and works great. I would never go to a job without it. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Health/Safety/Products/Related/?PC_7_RJH9U52300A9E023IJD0GR3O74_nid=GS34NX93PXgsHDSVSV648Cgl67XGXB3MRXbl

3M also makes a tack down tape dispenser that fits on top of the hand masker that is a must.
